Bohemian Cupid CUTE BL game Interview!

We had the pleasure of chatting with the team from Bohemian Cupid! Be sure to check it out to learn more about this adorable BL game!

1. What inspired Bohemian Cupid?

It all began with a conversation on Discord. We were talking about our OCs, and I went 'hey, wouldn't it be neat if we made a dating sim for these characters?' It was supposed to be a joke, but we got really invested in it. Before I knew it, we had a plot, a new character, and a pink talking dog...

I grew up playing dating sims like Tokimeki Memorial and Love Plus, so I was really excited to write something like that for Bohemian Cupid, but with an adult cast and a different dynamic (a married couple and two adults in their 30s instead of high schoolers.)

When I began to write the script proper, I had also recently finished Dramatical Murder, so I think I got some inspiration from that too, especially Clear's route. Boba was inspired by Ren. Oh, we also watched Adam Sandler's  '50 First Dates' for inspiration for Nathan's story and the romantic comedy-like jokes and shenanigans!

2. Tell us about the game. What can boys love fans expect?

Bohemian Cupid is a romantic comedy featuring two couples in different stages of their relationships: Zal and Miike are married, while Izuki and Nathan just began dating. It also has achievements, 10 CGs, and a lot of choices!

BL fans can expect cute interactions between the two couples, comedic shenanigans... and some angst. I'm kind of known for writing angst, so I couldn't help it. But most of the game is really cute and wholesome, especially if you get the good endings!

On the topic of the good endings, BL fans can also expect some extra special illustrations as a reward for achieving them.

3. Goals for the game?

We wanted to create something together. Bohemian Cupid is 100% a labor of love from us both. Although it was stressful at times, just the joy of having made something together makes it all worth it.

We have a lot of stories we want to tell as a duo in the future, and this game was our first collab, so it was also a way for us to figure out how that would work!  Whether it does well or not, I'm just happy we got to make something we're both proud of.

4. What inspired the art style?

Nevi: It's my regular art style honestly, I've taken inspiration for my art from all sorts of things, and over time it developed into what it looks like today.

My biggest inspirations have always been Bratz, Ball-jointed dolls, and my favorite animes. The coloring style was inspired by Fruits Basket (2019). I fell in love with it and have used it ever since.

5. If you could personally hang out with one of the characters from your game who would it be and why?

Meiri: Boba. He is the goodest boy of all time. We have a sticker of him on our Discord server that we use religiously to summon his cuteness. If that doesn't count, I feel like Miike and I would vibe, since we both like videogames and we have a similiar sense of humor.

Nevi: Izuki. (I'm sorry Boba) I feel like we'd spend hours talking about supernatural creatures and whatnot.

6. Where can folks support your game and your work?

Meiri: My games can be played on itch.io and I got a couple on Steam

I have a Ko-fi for tips and a Patreon where I share exclusive updates on future projects for members!

For Bohemian Cupid, I always appreciate reading comments from players. I wouldn't still be making games if my work wasn't received with so much warmth over the years!

Nevi: I mainly post my art to instagram now, as twitter has gone down hill for artists.

I also have a Ko-fi!
